Advising

How We Help

Our advisers are dedicated to helping you find the perfect program for your academic and personal goals, and can help provide you with the preparation necessary to excel once you arrive.

Make an Appointment

Before meeting with an OIE advisor make sure you attend our First Step Session.

We recommend you participate in at least one advising session, drop-in or 1-on-1, during the Fall Quarter before you submit your DU Abroad Application.

OIE advisors help guide you through the study abroad application & pre-departure steps.

  • Meet OIE advisors at drop-ins & individual (1-on-1) meetings
  • Students who finish their individual meetings before winter break feel more prepared to submit their DU Abroad Application
  • Avoid stress & trying to get last-minute appointments that may not work with your schedule
  • Winter advising appointments are not guaranteed; they're limited & often difficult to book
  • While OIE advisors can offer general advice on visas, resident permits, etc., they are not official or legal immigration experts - your host country's embassy or consulate is the ultimate authority on immigration matters
